Carnatic Wars

Carnatic Wars:

The Carnatic Wars were a series of military conflicts in the middle of the 18th century on the Indian subcontinent. These wars were the manifestation of Anglo-French rivalry. Genesis of the Carnatic wars is generally attributed to ambition of Dupleix. As governor of the French East India Company. Dupleix sought to establish a French colony in India. These wars ultimately led to establishment of a well consolidated British Empire. The French were defeated badly and were confined primarily to Pondicherry .
